In January 1911, a Belgian pilot gave the Prince of the Kingdom of Siam a ride in a plane! He was very impressed and decided to create the Siamese Air Force. In November 1913, three Thai pilots returned home after training in France and purchasing aircraft there. The country’s air force remained under the control of the army until April 9th 1937, when it was established as a separate branch. In 1939, with the renaming of the country, it became the Royal Thai Air Force. In the 1940s, it participated in the Franco-Thai War and World War II, first against Japan, then on its side.

About this aircraft

• The AV-8 Harrier is a proven carrier-based strike aircraft with reliable 30 mm cannons, a large number of countermeasures, and a wide range of external weapons. These include guided and unguided rockets, incendiary tanks, and bombs up to 1,000 lb. The AV-8S, the export version of the aircraft, differs from the AV-8A in that it has an RWR and carries AIM-9P missiles instead of the AIM-9G.
