Hey y'all! I've been working for the last few months on migrating Chillquarium from Godot 3.5 to the current Godot 4.4. This is an under-the-hood engine upgrade that wound up taking longer than I expected, but should make the game easier for me to maintain and work on moving forward. Migrating the game led to a lot of unexpected bugs that I have tracked down, and while I think everything is working now, it is likely that there are more bugs that I have not yet seen! So if anything weird turns up, let me know in the Steam forums or in the #bug-reports channel on the Discord server. As always, bug reports are a huge help, thanks to those of you who have been posting them!
In the meantime, I tried to also address some of the common complaints I've noticed with the recent update.
Changes
- New fish-specific menu in collection with a cleaner interface for checking alt-painted variants (and also a 3D card shader effect stolen from a certain poker-based-roguelike).
- Performance improvements when adding and feeding fish, and navigating the tank menu and collection menu.
- Added an extra freshwater and saltwater tank for the living-dexers out there
- Added a mercy timer for mythics and painted mythics
- Added some new visual particle effects for rainbow cards and tweaked the mythics particle effect to be cooler and less obnoxious
- Large amounts of money are now abbreviated
- Costs in the shop are now obscured until you have reached a certain amount of money (so as not to spoil the surprise of "These cost *15 Quadrillion$!* etc.)
- The game now saves whether or not gold packs were selected in the shop
Bugfixes
- Fixed bug where offline income appeared to max out at 92 Quadrillion (this was actually just a visual bug, the real amount seemed to scale properly)
- Minor tank menu layout improvements
- "Equip" tank button removed from the shop because it was confusing
- Switch tank button no longer appears if there is no other valid tank
Happy fishing!
-Ben
