Battlefield 6 kicks off a whole new era of high-intensity combat. Whether you are battling in intense infantry firefights, attacking enemies in jets, reviving teammates in the heat of battle, or driving a tank through a collapsing building, this is all-out warfare like you’ve never seen it before. Welcome to the world of Battlefield 6.
Here’s everything you need to know before you deploy, and what to look forward to when you hit the frontlines for the first time.
The year is 2027. The world is on the edge of chaos. After a high-profile assassination shocks the world, major European countries have left NATO, while the US and its allies grapple with the fallout.
A massive private military corporation with no fear, deep pockets and the latest tech, looks to fill the power vacuum. This army is Pax Armata.
What’s left of NATO is wounded and battered. But the remnants have formed a hardened alliance determined to put an end to this threat.
Welcome to Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 6 includes a nine mission global-scale single-player Campaign following Dagger 13, an elite US Marine Raiders unit tasked at stabilizing NATO against a Coalition led by Pax Armata.
We highly recommend new players - as well as all players interested in Battlefield 6’s lore - to play the Campaign first before jumping into Multiplayer or Portal experiences.

Following the events of the Campaign, Battlefield 6’s Multiplayer showcases NATO and PAX Artmata in an all-out, near-neverending war:
Play as NATO: As key European powers withdraw from NATO, the world is left more unstable than ever before. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Egypt are here to defend what’s left, with an army of soldiers driven by duty and honor.
Play as PAX Armata: This shadowy coalition is ready to capitalize on disruption, aiming to usurp the United States as the world’s leading superpower. Pax Armata is a massive private military corporation with deep pockets, the latest tech, and no government red tape. They are hellbent on using this once-in-a-generation opportunity to seize power.
In Multiplayer, you will be placed into one of these two factions as your team. However, you will always have the choice to pick a far more important role: your class.

Battlefield’s class system, encouraging you to fulfill a specific role in the fight, is back. New to the system are training options that unlock additional traits that are earned in battle, rewarding those who play the objective with an active ability to help turn the tide of war.
Battlefield 6’s deep customization system allows players to arm themselves with any weapon for any situation, but each class shines when you take advantage of signature weapon sets that lean into your class role.
For those who wish to play with closed weapon loadouts, the option will be easily accessible in official playlists with full XP progression available.
Here is an overview of each class, with a dedicated guide to each class found within the full Battlefield 101 Onboarding Hub:

The above is only a taste of the tactics for classes, especially when it comes to working together to fill those roles as a squad. There is also a wealth of loadout options that transcend classes, thanks to the introduction of Attachment Points and other features.

The in-game tutorial will direct you towards your first Multiplayer match. Selecting your new favorite Multiplayer experience boils down to two factors: the mode and maps.
Battlefield 6 launches with experiences across five theaters of war. Within those five theaters are nine maps, which create a combined 25 Combat Zones. A Combat Zone is a hand-crafted configuration within Battlefield 6’s maps that maximize quality under a variety of modes.
For more information on Combat Zones and available maps at launch, visit the Maps section of our Battlefield 101 onboarding hub.
Battlefield 6 Multiplayer includes eight modes at launch, with more to come in post-launch season updates and not inclusive of any Community Experiences created within Portal. These modes are a mix of iconic all-out warfare and classic Multiplayer experiences infused with Battlefield DNA.
Click here for more information for all available modes at launch.

The Initiation modes - for example: Breakthrough Initiation, available at launch - should be every new recruit’s first step into ultimate all-out war. Initiation modes provide the same level of combat with the same level of intensity, all set in a learning environment where new players can cut their teeth alongside Bots
After each match across all Multiplayer modes, you will earn experience towards your overall player rank, as well as towards individual weapon masteries. A report on ranking up in Battlefield, including details on every unlock from Ranks 1 through 50, can be found here.

Battlefield Portal is a massive sandbox where creators and players can push Battlefield to the limit. Take unprecedented control of your environment by moving, scaling, and duplicating objects. Create a completely unique game mode using NPC scripting and a customizable UI. Legendary Battlefield experiences are waiting to be created—show ‘em what you’re made of.
Portal is the platform for an unfathomable amount of experiences to be created by our community, some of which offer full experience progression. The most popular and creative Portal experiences will be featured by our developers at and after launch, adding a taste of our community’s rising creators’ best work to our developer-created Multiplayer experiences.
We have three distinct guides on Portal: one guide is for those looking to play this mode, the second for designers who are just getting started, and the last one for more advanced creators.

There’s so much to look forward to – most of it we’ll leave for you to discover, but here’s what we’re most excited about.
TACTICAL DESTRUCTION: As one of Battlefield’s most defining features, it was important for the team to figure out how to elevate the art of Destruction – both visually and as a game mechanic.
The answer is Tactical Destruction. In Battlefield 6, you will have more options to transform the environment to your advantage. Here’s some examples of what you can do with Tactical Destruction:
The visual bar for Destruction has also been raised.

KINESTHETIC COMBAT SYSTEM: Battlefield’s new Kinesthetic Combat System is designed to give you more control over your mobility and the tactical options during the heat of battle. This includes actions to help optimize gunplay depending on the situation. These are all new options available for the first time in Battlefield.
As part of the Kinesthetic Combat System, reliable recoil patterns and well-defined weapon ranges help players learn and react in real-time.

The ultimate all-out war is here - rally the squad and join the fight today.
