As promised in the
Community Q&A, Update 0.4 for Assetto Corsa Rally is
coming 30th April!*
This update packs a serious punch with some new content, new partnerships, new weather conditions and a long list of fixes that'll make your rallying experience so much richer!
Two Historical Icons
Two icons of the 1990's are tearing their way into Assetto Corsa Rally, each bringing a completely different kind of chaos to the stages.
One is a battle hardened, All Wheel Drive (AWD) icon built to dominate loose surfaces with raw grip and unmistakable attitude, while the other is a screaming, Front Wheel Drive (FWD) maniac that thrives on precision, agility, and flatout commitment.
Peugeot 306 Maxi Kit Car
The Peugeot 306 II Maxi Kit Car, made famous by drivers such as François Delecour and represented here in IKE Racing livery, homologated in 1997, is a remarkable example of late-90s rally engineering, designed predominantly for tarmac racing within the FIA’s 2-Litre World Rally Cup.
Its development grew from the earlier 306 S16, but with significant technical upgrades tailored for rally competition, particularly in national and international tarmac events.
It emerged in an era when French manufacturers were pushing the envelope in the 2-Litre Kit Car category, which emphasized naturally aspirated engines in front-wheel-drive chassis.
This class focused on lightweight, agile vehicles optimized for asphalt rather than the gravel where World Rally Cars dominated. The 306 Maxi was notably competitive because of its blend of power, lightness, and fine-tuned chassis dynamics, making it faster on tarmac than many costlier four-wheel-drive WRC rivals.
Its success contributed to the eventual ban of Kit Cars from top-tier international rally competitions, as their performance upset the established hierarchy.
Subaru Impreza S3 Group A
The Subaru Impreza S3 of 1993 driven by Colin McRae and which ignited the beginning of the Impreza’s rally legend marked Subaru’s serious entry into the World Rally Championship (WRC) with a car designed specifically for Group A regulations.
It replaced the larger Legacy RS and aimed to bring improved agility and competitive edge through technical refinements rather than radical reinvention.
It came into its own in the mid-1990s with renowned drivers like Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz behind the wheel. McRae clinched the Drivers’ World Rally Championship in 1995 with this car, becoming the youngest champion ever at that time. The model also helped Subaru secure multiple manufacturers’ titles through 1996 and 1997.
Born from Subaru’s desire to improve upon the Legacy’s platform with a more agile and technically refined machine, the Impreza became a foundational car that established Subaru as a major force in WRC history without resorting to hype, its technical merits and racing pedigree remain the facts that define its legacy.
Two completely different philosophies: the 306 Maxi, with front-wheel drive and its high-revving naturally aspirated engine, is extremely effective on asphalt; the Impreza, with 4WD and a Boxer engine, is ready to attack snow and gravel.
Winter is coming... to Alsace and Wales
Speaking of your enthusiasm for snow driving, we have applied our snowy weather technology to the Alsace and Wales rallies as well. This way, you can rediscover these roads in a completely new condition that brings fresh challenges. (Snow tyres for Alsace and Wales will come in a future update)
A Strong partnership has formed
We are extremely happy to announce that in March we started an
official collaboration with Jon Armstrong, WRC Rally Driver at M-Sport.
Jon has extensive experience in sim racing, game development, and top-level rally competition, and thanks to his feedback and direction we have been able to further improve the physics and handling of the cars.
We focused on tires, aerodynamics, and suspension to make the cars’ behavior smoother and more communicative, making it more natural to manage dynamics such as wheel lock-up, loss of traction, and driving at the limit.
Phases that, according to Jon, are crucial for driving the car effectively and enjoyably.
Speaking of fine tuning...
We have also introduced numerous improvements in various areas, including better support for peripherals and the
integration of Fanatec FullForce and Logitech TrueForce SDKs.
You can find all the details below. Once again, thank you for your support and the valuable feedback that helps us grow and refine Assetto Corsa Rally with every update.
Have fun and enjoy the update!

CHANGELOG
NEW CONTENT:
- Added 2 new cars: Peugeot 306 Maxi Kit Car and Subaru Impreza S3 Gr.A 1993
- Added snowy weather conditions in Rally Alsace and Rally Wales
- Added 2 new Assetto Corsa Rally Events groups for the 2 new cars, for a total of 12 new events
- Added 1 event each (3 total) in the FWD, RWD and 4WD Traction groups with mixed weather conditions
- Added 3 new partners in the Rally Encyclopedia
CARS:
- Fixed go-pro cameras in replays clipping with bodywork on ultra-wide resolutions in Hyundai i20
- Fixed gameplay cameras clipping with damaged bodywork in Citroen Xsara WRC
- Fixed exposure of “Between Heads” and Driver/Co-Driver go-pro cameras in replays for all cars
- Reduced direction-based ambient occlusion on cars
- Updated LCD on Lancia Delta
- Updated license plates on Skoda Fabia
- Added competition logos on all cars
- Made the back face of window stickers less saturated (simulated the paper backing)
- Many minor bug fixes across all cars
INPUT:
- Implemented Fanatec FullForce and Logitech TrueForce, with new in-game FFB parameter to be tuned by users
- Improved generic devices compatibility. This enables more devices to work as expected.
PHYSICS:
- Added angular damping to small movable objects to prevent unrealistic spinning
- Added Peugeot 306 Maxi Kit Car and Subaru Impreza S3 Group A
- With the Peugeot 306, it was made available for the first time the adjustment of brake bias through a pressure limiter valve (similarly to tandem master cylinders cars) instead of a balance bar. This, despite the car having a dual master cylinder setup. This allows the driver to reduce rear brake pressure without increasing the front one.
- Further tires tuning for all surfaces, in particular:
o The way wet conditions and snow affect tire forces has been modified; they no longer reduce cornering stiffness, and the S-shaped curve is effectively cut off when grip is saturated.
o In the case of snow, an additional experimental deformation component has been added to the slip angle, which increases the more suitable a tire is for snow. This simulates the tire actually gripping the underlying surface.
o These changes make the transition between grip and no grip more immediate and noticeable on both wet and snowy surfaces, improving the car’s responsiveness in the wet and its controllability on snow.
o The parameters related to the tire’s dynamic masses and damping have been fine-tuned for more consistent force delivery.
o The ability to grip on snow has been added to gravel tires, making them suitable for driving on snowy gravel roads.
o The parameters of the tire’s S-shaped curve have been adjusted based on test data.
o The load sensitivity parameters of some tires have been refined based on results from field tests.
- Revised aerodynamic tuning for both drag and lift forces
- Revised some vehicles setups and presets to improve handling or to make it more adequate to latest tires changes.
