Backup
First, make a backup of your game save – see the tutorial on how to do it and where to save the game.
Why should you make a copy of the game save? Because some modifications can interfere with your save game, and after removing them, your save game may break and you won’t be able to use it anymore.
How to download and install mods
You can download mods from the Nexus Mods website. To install the mods, follow a few simple steps:
- In Steam, right click Sherlock Holmes The Awakened, and under the manage tab, click Browse Local Files or navigate to the game folder (default Steam path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sherlock Holmes The Awakened)
- In the game directory, click Contents and then Paks.
- In the Paks folder (if it’s not already there) make a folder named ~mods
- Put the mod into that folder, and then run the game.
That’s it, the modification installation is not complicated.
This guide was written for the installation of modifications using the default modification support by the authors of the game Sherlock Holmes The Awakened. Some modifications may require a different program (the so-called Mod Loader) or additional components such as API – always check the modification requirements provided by the author of a given modification.
